This policy explains what information the IsItDown website (the “Site”) handles when you use it, and the role of third-party advertising and analytics.
1. The checks you run
When you open a per-domain status page, the Site’s own backend contacts the address you asked about and records whether it answers (plus the HTTP status and response time). It keeps only the last few results for that address in server memory — a few seconds of caching plus a short history for the chart. Nothing is written to disk, no account or personal data is collected, and the in-memory results reset on every deploy. The Site stores nothing about your checks in your browser.
2. Information we do not collect
We do not require accounts, and we do not collect names, email addresses, or payment details. If you email us, we handle that message only to respond to you.
3. Third-party advertising (Google AdSense)
The Site is supported by third-party advertising, including Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies (or equivalent technologies) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings.
- Most advertising networks offer ways to opt out of their ad campaigns. You can also manage this in your browser settings by blocking third-party cookies.
We do not have direct access to the personal data that Google collects through these ads; that data is governed by Google’s own privacy policy.
4. Analytics (Google Analytics)
The Site uses Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the tool is used (page views, approximate region, device type). Google Analytics uses cookies to recognize browsers. You can prevent its use by installing Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.
